I wonder how everyone will view the Bob Woodward fiasco in a few years. Maybe better to wonder how they will view him.
The Globe & Mail certainly still sees him as a hero and reliable journalist but I think they could be blowing in the wind.
Whether or not he is a journalist and not just another tout for those in power isn't a new question. Joan Didion raised questions about his methods some time ago and Greg Anrig at TPMCafe has highlight her article in light of the last week or so with him and his memory problems.
James Carroll at the Boston Globe I think sees Woodward as the epitome of the failed US media over the last few years.
In the future it likely is not going to be Woodward and Bernstein the two young heros but Woodward and Miller the imbedded shills.
I don't think history will be that kind to this last pair.
The closing line of the Deborah Howell's article says it all about Woodward and I think no wishing or blowing in the wind by the G&M will restore his credibility.
